This painting was inspired by a view through a window when I was walking down a street in Newcastle… A whole storefront full of sunflowers basking in the sun, their golden light streaming through the giant window.
What stopped me in my tracks was the glimpses of the street, trees and people around me being reflected back in the glass and the multiple views and planes I was experiencing. Fast forward a year and I still had that amazing image in my mind so I started experimenting with creating the layered planes of colour and detail, overlapping a central image of flowers.
